The Rittal enclosures Wireless Sensor Network consists of a central host component of a wireless input/output unit and wireless sensors. One wireless input/output unit can manage up to 16 wireless sensors via radio. One can choose to arbitrarily mix between four sensors with different monitoring functions. This type of wireless sensor network is compatible with the CMC-TC monitoring system based on Processing Unit II (PUI). There are many sensor units (input/output units, access units, Rittal Air Conditioner units, Rittal cabinet FCS socket boards, etc.) available for PUII. Up to 4 sensor units can be connected to one PUI.
These Rittal enclosureswireless input/output units are connected to the PUII via a Cat5 cable and can be mixed with existing sensor units. Up to 4 wireless input/output units can be connected to one PUI. In this way, one PUII can control up to 4x16 wireless sensors. In order to control wireless sensor networks such as Rittal cabinet, a CMC-TC system with PUII is always required. This allows monitoring information to be processed and displayed on the Ethernet through SNMP, Web, FTP, etc. In addition, wired and wireless sensors can be combined to modularly combine monitoring functions according to special application requirements.

This type of radio transmission takes place in an ISM frequency band that does not require a license for the terminal device. The integrated encryption function of the radio waves provides corresponding protection against unauthorized eavesdropping of the data transmitted by the Rittal Air Conditioner.

Or by opening the integrated levelless switch, the alarm signal is further transmitted to the building management technology (GLT) center, the fire alarm center or Rittal's CMC-TC monitoring system. Via the two access sensors (door monitoring devices) of the Rittal Air Conditioner, the activation of the fire extinguishing device is prevented when the Rittal enclosures door is opened.
In order to ensure the functionality of the system when the power supply is cut off due to a power failure, the system can be integrated into an emergency power supply device with a 4-hour transition power supply time.
This system can also be supplied to customers without a fire extinguishing agent tank as a pure early fire detection system (Early Fire Detection).
